History

1934

Founding of the company Kanol in Linz, Austria by Mr Johann Wimmer, who started the production of floor care products.

1950

Production facility moved to Wels

1966

2nd generation: Senator Friedrich Wimmer becomes shareholder and CEO of Kanol Chemie GmbH.

1968

Start of aerosol production

1970

Due to an increasing need for space, the company Kanol Chemie GmbH moved to Ried im Traunkreis to a 25,000m² site. Continuous expansion of production.

1996

ISO 9001 certification.
In addition, production in accordance with GMP Guidelines for cosmetics.

2000

3rd generation: Mag. Ernst Wimmer, active in management since 1993, becomes sole CEO.

2001

Increase of floor space to 50,000m².

2003

First participation at the PLMA in Amsterdam (biggest private label trade fair in Europe).

2007 Change of name to Kanol GmbH & Co KG.
Initial operation of our modern GMP compliant factory for creams.
2008 ISO 13485:2003 certification for the production of medical goods.
Integration into Donau Chemie Group, an Austrian Chemical manufacturer, as the Business Unit for Consumer Goods.
Change of name to Donau Kanol
2009 Donau Kanol is ISO 14001 certified
First participation at Vivaness for natural cosmetics and eco-friendy cleaners.
2010

Specialization in natural cosmetics and eco-certified household cleaners.

2011 Entrance in segment active ingredient cosmetics
Implementation of general product analysis according to international and national standards
Adjustment to the new Cosmetic Directive
2012 Installation of filtration of bioethanol at the plant Pischelsdorf 
New certification of A.I.S.E.
First Eco Label antifreeze windscreen washer
2013 CLP/GHS compliance of all products for both production sites.
2014 Recertification of ISO 13485 for production and filling of liquid and pasty medical devices.
2015

Start Donau Kanol Academy in three seminars:

Intermolecular forces, about emulsions.
1 + 1 = one. Three dimensional gel networks.
Clear view. A transparent take on windscreen antifreeze.
2016 Installation of heat recovery system that annually saves 15,000 litres of fuel oil.
2017 Concentration of the consumer products on the site Ried im Traunkreis.
2018 IFS Certification
